Have the caregiver share other professional experiences they've had and what in particular led to them becoming a caregiver.
Ask them to elaborate and tell you about what they did with that client. Are they still in touch with the family?
This is especially important if they have a family and/or will be working as a Live-In.
Get a sense of what they like to do when they're not working.
This is particularly important if your loved one is not good at asking for help. During the interview, ask the caregiver specifics on how they would go about doing this.
Have them provide an example anecdote for each.
Ask them to be as specific as possible and list different tasks or emotional obstacles that they find challenging.
If so, have them tell you about that experience. What were some of the special things they did with the person and what were the challenges?
This is particularly important if your loved one is strong-willed. Have the caregiver share specifics on how they would handle any resistance.
